Meet The Team

Bill Thomas, CDT

Bill Thomas is President, founder and CEO of Smile Science, Inc.  His career began as a chair side assistant for a Navy prosthodontist.  He then went onto become a dental hygienist and eventually a dental technician.

For nine years, Bill was the new product editor for Modern Dental Lab magazine, is a charter member of Consultants of Regional Education in Toronto, Canada.  He serves on the board of directors for two nationally recognized laboratory associations, and is a highly regarded international lecturer and educator.

As a consultant to several leading dental manufacturers, Bill has developed and patented numerous innovative products for the profession. 

Bill founded Bill Thomas, CDT & Associates in 1992 and in 2002 changed the laboratory name to Smile Science, Inc.  Bill’s main hobby and passion is cosmetic dentistry, but in his time away from the lab he restores and collects antique cars, plays golf, flies hot air balloons, and does all this with his lovely wife Becky.

Bill and Becky have been married for 50 years, have one daughter Tracy (also a dental technician), and two beautiful granddaughters McKenna and Morgan.

 

Becky Thomas

Becky is the Administrative Director at Smile Science.  She has worked in the dental field for 34 years as a dental assistant, orthodontic assistant, orthodontic lab technician and owner, and started with Smile Science as the model department supervisor.

She has been married to Bill for 50 years, mother of Tracy, and she enjoys spending time with her two grand daughters McKenna and Morgan.  Becky also enjoys hot air ballooning, showing her award winning 1966 Mustang convertible, and traveling to new places.

 

 

Tracy Rylee

Tracy Rylee is part owner and Vice President of Smile Science, Inc.  She has been with the company since it’s opening in 1992, and has been a technician for 28 years.

Tracy has attended numerous continuing education courses, including the Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Studies Occlusion and Function Course, and courses by Dr. Tom McDonald and Jack Turbyfill.

Tracy runs the financial aspects for the company including payroll, taxes, and accounts payable/receivable.   In addition, she does all the opaquing, pick-up and delivery, and does the digital scan and design on our new Kavo System.

Tracy has been married to her husband Todd for 25 years, and they have two daughters McKenna and Morgan.  She enjoys spending time and traveling with her family. 

 

 

 

David Latty

David graduated from White County High in 1986.  He started working in the Dental Lab business in 1988.  David has been employed by Smile Science for 16 years and is now part owner. 

David started as Bill’s full time die trimmer; this was his job at tow other labs since 1988.  He has since completed his CDT in Crown and Bridge.  David has enjoyed working on his skills and education at Smile science.

David enjoys playing sports in his time off; his favorite is cycling.  He is married to Karen and has two Boston Terriers.

 

 

 

 

 

Nellie Joiner

Nellie was a member of the White County High School Apprenticeship Program where she became interested in dentistry.  The Apprenticeship Program is designed for high school students to get hands on experience for future careers.  Nellie attended a seminar by Dr. Jack Turbyfill and that’s where her love of dentistry began.

Nellie has been employed by Smile Science for 22 years.  She is the scheduling and safety coordinator, front office manager, handles all incoming disinfecting, and all outgoing shipping.

Nellie has been married to Michael for 20 years, has a son named Cooper, and a spoiled rotten goldendoodle named Justice.

 

 

 

Anita Rail

Anita has been in the dental laboratory business for 41 years.  She has also had a laboratory at her home.  Anita has been with Smile Science for 14 years.  She is a Ceramist here at Smile Science. 

Anita has two daughters, Ashley and Whitney, and three grandchildren.  Anita has two dogs and two cats.  In Anita’s spare time she loves antiquing and spending time with her three grandchildren.

 

Dustin Carter

Dustin has been working for Smile Science since 2002.  He specializes in Emax Press, Bredent Attachments, diagnostic wax-ups and some metal finishing.  Dustin also helps in scanning and design for Z-Science and Emax to Zirconium.

Dustin enjoys coaching his son’s football team each year, and watching his daughter cheer them on as a cheerleader.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Andrew Boatwright

Andrew is the newest member of the Smile Science Team.  He is our full-time model technician, and is being trained in other areas of the laboratory.

In his spare time, he likes to play disc golf.  He has two spoiled dogs and is an active member in his church as a youth leader.
